Special stands for balancing rotors

In some cases, for balancing the rotor arrangements arises the need to use special stands.
These stands are usually designed to balance the particular products or parts. And the main purpose of their creation (of course in addition to achieve the desired quality of balancing) is the need to reduce the costs associated with the acquisition and operation of full-time balancing machines. After all, it is no secret that the cost of this type of equipment is high and, depending on the weight and dimensions of the balanced rotors can range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
In this regard, I would like to share the experience gained by our company in dealing with these non-standard balancing tasks. Perhaps it will be useful for professionals seeking to optimally meet the challenges of balancing their products. Especially because now there is a new relatively inexpensive balancing instrument "Balkom 1", which can be used as a measurement computer system in any balancer.

1. Stands for balancing duct fans.

When in the late 90s of the last century on the JSC "Fan Works" Lissant "began production of duct fans, it became necessary to develop special booths for their balancing.
    These stands are designed by our experts in conjunction with the engineering department of CJSC "Lissant."
    The main requirements for these stands are high precision balancing in two planes, characterized by the level of residual vibration is not greater than 0.05 mm / s at a frequency of rotation of the rotor, and the performance, which was supposed to be at least 20 pieces per hour.
       After a series of experimental design study was chosen design of the stand shown in Fig. 1.
       Said stand 6 consists of a platform mounted on three spring 7. The spring supports are chosen in such a way
to the natural frequency of the stand on the springs was not more than 1/3 of the rotor speed of the fan channel. This provides an effective detuning from the stand mounting resonance and helps to achieve a high quality of balancing.
       The platform is fixed cartridge 5 (collet or jaw), which provides the ability to quickly install the stand and pick-up with him the balanced fan 4.
       The platform is also designated 9 bracket used to mount stand two vibration sensors 2 and phase angle sensor 3.
       The sensors are connected to respective inputs of measuring and computing unit for balancing device 1, by which is measured at a frequency of vibration of the fan rotation and calculation parameters corrector weights to ensure proper balance quality duct fans.
        To improve performance, balancing as corrector weights used a special set of spring clip (with different masses), mounted on the fan blades.

2.Stand for balancing vacuum pumps

Stands for balancing the vacuum pumps were developed by the order of "plant" meter "in 2002 and 2009.
      The main requirement for the development of these stands is to provide high-quality high-speed balancing of turbine rotors pump assembly (in bearings) on the operating speed, which for various types of pumps may be 42,000 - 60,000 rev / min.
       In this case, the actual value of the residual unbalance of the rotor had to meet the requirements of the rotors of the 1st class of accuracy in accordance with GOST 22061-76.
        Stands design consideration is shown schematically in Fig. 2.
        As in the previous case, the stand is in the form of a rectangular platform 1 is installed on a 4-cylinder two springs.
        It should be noted that the design and manufacturing platform was provided by the presence on it of longitudinal and transverse stiffeners that ensure the highest rigidity while minimizing weight of the platform.
       This led to high sensitivity to the action of forces stand imbalance and at the same time eliminate the risk of resonance oscillations (bending, torsion, etc.) platform for the entire range pump speed when balancing.
        The platform is fixed a cylindrical base 3, which is installed on the pump 4 trimmable.

          Besides it in the measuring system comprises two vibration transducer 7 and 8 mounted respectively on the base and lid.
          All sensors are connected to respective inputs of measuring and computing unit 9 is performing measurement and calculation of vibration characteristics corrector weights.
        In addition to working out of the stand to achieve the desired quality of balancing rotors of vacuum pumps require the development of special technology, which included the implementation of two main stages.
        In the first stage, when the rotational speed of the rotor of the pump does not exceed 8000 rev / min, and the rotor remains tough compensated basic components of its power and torque imbalance. Thus with the help of our devices is achieved stably residual vibration level not higher than 0.01 mm / s in the frequency range from 3500 to 8000 rev / min.
       Thereafter, in the second stage re-balancing of the rotor at the operating frequency, reaching, depending on the pump design 42000 or 60000 rev / min.

3. Stand for balancing of impeller pumps

Said stand was designed in collaboration with our experts Tsimlyansk shipmechanic plant and was intended to balance the impeller pumps.
       In the design of the stand into account the structural and operational features of the balanced wheels. Including:
      - The mass of the impeller, which reaches 700 kg or more;

       The basis of the stand is a massive 3-hour, fixed to the foundation.
       Natural frequency is 33 Hz rack. It is more than 3 times higher than the speed of the balanced wheel, which eliminates the possibility of resonant oscillations in the design process of balancing.
        In fact, this is the simplest stand dorezonansnym balancing machines.
        Trimmable wheel 1 is mounted on the spindle of the stand 2, which rotates in rolling bearings. Spindle done using the belt drive from the drive motor 5 4.

         The measuring system of the stand is made on the basis of the balancing device consists of a measuring and computing unit 8, two vibration sensors 6 and the phase angle of the sensor 7 are connected to respective inputs of a measuring instrument and computing unit.
          With its help, measure the vibration of the frame stand on frequency of rotation of the impeller, the results of which automatically calculates the parameters of the corrector weights (mass and angle pick-up) to ensure proper quality of balancing its balancing.
          The residual imbalance, which is achieved after balancing, do not exceed 1-1.5 * 10³ g * mm, which fully satisfies the requirements of the pump impellers.

4. Stand for balancing accelerators crushers.

Said stand was developed in CJSC "New Technologies" with the participation of our specialists in 2001.
       The scheme is shown in Figure 4. Stand
       The stand is designed for pre-balancing accelerators crusher 1 with masses of 50 to 1000 kg or more and diameters of from 500 to 2000 mm.
        The stand includes a vertical spindle 2 mounted in bearings in the frame 3.
        The spindle is mounted with a booster 1 is rotated by the motor 4 is connected to the spindle by a coupling (not shown in Fig).
         The electric motor is connected to the network with the use of frequency control, allows you to change the spindle speed in a wide range.
        The design of the frame allows the realization of two variants of its installation foundation including:
       - Rigid fixation using anchor bolts;
       - Installation with spring shock absorbers 5.
        Rigid fixation is commonly used in the case of balancing heavy bulky accelerators having significant source imbalance ..
         Spring isolators are used for balancing the relatively small and light accelerator in order to increase the sensitivity to fluctuations in the stand against the forces of imbalance, resulting in the improvement of the quality of balancing.
          As in previous cases, the measuring system of the stand includes two vibration sensor 6 and 7, the phase angle sensor 8, and the measuring and computing unit 9.
        With its help, measure the vibration of the frame stand on spindle speed, the results of which automatically calculates the parameters of the corrector weights (mass and angle pick-up), provides the necessary balance quality crushers accelerators.
         It should be noted that at this stand is made mostly rough (preliminary) balance accelerators.
         Final (final) accelerators balancing is performed after their installation in the crusher, which enables the achievement of a minimum level of vibration during operation of the crushers.
          Achieved at the level of residual vibration crusher according to experts of JSC "New technologies" may be 0.5 - 1 mm / sec.
